Application

To protect the safety and reliability of Ni/MH battery modules, to show real time run data and to prolong cycle life. It contains the following four main items:

(1)real time monitoring of run data of modules
(2)high accuracy estimate of SOC
(3)power balance of battery sets
(4)fault analysis and safety protection

Structure of power managing system
Power managing system is structured by six units: central process unit, data collection unit, overall voltage and current sampling unit, power circuit control unit, cool circuit control unit and user customized communication unit £¬ see graph 1.
research content and requirements of each unit
(1)central process unit
This unit is the core of the power managing system, it coordinates the work of each unit, convert and collect overall voltage and current, collect and analyze the up-load data from the data collection unit by CAN, and carry out corresponding managing policy according to preset mathematic and managing matrix.
(2)Data collection unit
This unit can be designed to be certain pieces of independent physical parts in accordance to battery set's structure. It realizes data communication by CAN field bus and central process unit and transfer field data to central process unit.

This unit can measure the real time data of voltage and temperature of each module. If one battery is combined by k pieces of module in series, and one battery set is combined by M sets in series. So the whole battery have k*m pieces of module. The exact Q'TY of k and M will be decided by end user.


The detailed requirements of measure contents, range and accuracy is as following:

(3)LCD instant monitor unit LCD
LCD display real time run data of battery sets, such as SOC, overall voltage, working current and the highest voltage and current of running cooperation, etc. and other data can also be displayed according to customer requirement.
(4) Power circuit control unit
Under instruction of central control unit, drive corresponding executive parts and control switch of high voltage power supply circuit for safety purpose.
(5)Cool circuit control unit
Under instruction of central control unit, drive corresponding executive parts and control switch of cool power supply circuit for reliability purpose.
(6) Overall voltage and current sampling
In the practical application of battery power system, the output terminal is usually high voltage(several hundred V) and high current (more than 100A ). So insulation measure must be done to collect data. This unit can change overall voltage and current into weak electric signal by high accuracy insulation terminal or sensor and transfer such real time data to central process unit and realize data measurement.
(7) Customized communication unit
In end user's practical application system, such managing system may be required to exchange data and information with the whole application system. So different kinds of communication bus must be applied. This unit is to be customized and to satisfy user's communication requirement, such as RS-485, TCP/IP, etc.
