Conditions of Contest
The Sixth Chunlan Cup World Go Championship



I. Organizers:
Chinese Weiqi Association Chunlan(Group)Corporation

II. Venue, schedule, system and players:
A. The 1st and 2nd rounds Venue: Beijing System: Knockout In the 1st round, eight seeded players will receive bye, other sixteen players will compete. Winners will advance to the 2nd round .In the 2nd round, again, sixteen players will compete for top 8 places. Schedule of the 1st and 2nd rounds: 9 March 2006: Arrival at Beijing 10 March 2006: Opening ceremony 11 March 2006: 1st round 12 March 2006: Rest 13 March 2006: 2nd round 14 March 2006: Departure
B. Quarterfinal and Semifinal Venue: Guangzhou System: Elimination Eight players will compete for two rounds. It will be held in September 2006.
C. Final. Venue: Fuzhou Winner will be determined by the best of three. Single match play-off will be held at the same time. It will be held in April 2007.

III. Quota of players from the Sixth Chunlan World Go Championship:
The first 3 places of the Fifth Chunlan Cup; China 8 Japan 5 Korea 4 Chinese Taipei 2 America 1 Europe 1

IV. Rules:
A. The latest Rules of Chinese Go Game is applicable to the match, 3 hours for each side, and 5 minutes for countdown.
B. The first 3 places of each Championship will be seeded players of the next Championship. The country or region, whose players are ranked from the 4th to 8th places will be entitled the same quota for seeded players in the next Championship.
C. Lots will be drawn from the first match till semifinal. In principle, players from the same country/region shall not meet each other in the match.
D. In the Final, sequence will be guessed in the first game, and taken turns in the 2nd,and guessed again for the 3rd .
E. The players shall represent his/her affiliated association.

V. Playing Fee and Prizes (before tax):
Losers of the 1st round: US $ 2,000
Losers of the 2nd round: US $ 4,000
Losers of the 3rd round: US $ 7,000

VI. Prizes (before tax):
Championship: US $ 150,000
Runner-up: US $ 50,000
3rd place: US $ 30,000
4th place: US $ 15,000
