To ensure brilliant, successful of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, a few days ago, Chunlan Clean Energy Research Institute sent battery experts to Beijing, strictly inspected the running of a number of demonstration lines in Beijing, and also the hybrid bus (Olympic bus) equipped with Chunlan high-energy power nickel-hydrogen batteries which will be devoted to carry athletes during the Olympic Games. By correlative testing and comprehensive assessment, all the battery and power management products meet the requirements of the Olympic bus, and running well.

Based on the "Special plans for the science and technology Olympic building" of the Beijing Olympic Games, during the Olympic Games opened on August 8 this year, all buses which carry athletes, the Olympic venue of the special use of public transport vehicles and parts buses, will use energy conservation in order to achieve the environmental protection goal of the Olympic Games. Therefore, the Beijing municipal government facing to National Bus Production Enterprises, bidding for hundred of 12 meters low-floor vehicles hybrid city buses, the Dongfeng Electric Vehicle Company which has long-standing close cooperation with Chunlan in the new field of energy be the successful bidder.

It is understood that the Dongfeng Electric Vehicle Company production of parallel and series hybrid city bus, using of high-performance cars with power nickel-hydrogen batteries, and the match of the DC uninterrupted power supply management system which independent researched by Chunlan. The batteries and power systems have outstanding advantages of small size, light weight, non-polluting, high specific energy, continued long trip mileage, charging a short time, control of sensitive, the key technology in the advanced international level, one of the key products for the Hybrid Electric Bus optimal choice.

In fact, four years age, the high-energy power nickel-hydrogen battery and management system of Chunlan was using for Dongfeng, FAW, and other models of hybrid electric bus, and also had more than three years of trial operation in Wuhan, Changchun and Shanghai, more than 10 Cities. During the years from the application and operating results, its battery power and the key element technology, system integration technology and applications in the vehicle on the technical aspects have been mature, with independent intellectual property rights has led to commercial production and application of foundation.
